Nicolas Lancret (1690-1743) was a French painter whose style was Rococo. He often used pastel colors, and was known for his painterly style and charming subject matter. This piece features a mandolin playing gentleman entertaining two young ladies during a music lesson.This painting is a rare 1920s engraving accented with an ivory border, is glass covered and features carved giltwood framing.
