This canton blue and white porcelain plate features an elegant landscape pattern. This type of blue and white porcelain was one of the most retro porcelains in Chinese history. The patterns are hand painted with the blue pigment derived from cobalt oxide. This plate was made in the 19th century for export to the Western markets. These were made in the Chinese city of Guangzhou, formerly known as Canton, hence this type of ceramics name.Excellent pre-owned condition, a small chip on the rim as shown, and some minor staining on the plate as shown.
